CLIENT TESTIMONIALS ON TRAINING WITH KELLY

"Hi. I am Richard J. Jr., I'm 5"3, 13 years old, and my weight is... you know what? It doesn't MATTER what my weight is, what matters is how I feel and how much energy I have. I was introduced to Kelly from my Auntie. I started training because I wanted to be a better hockey goalie, but now I keep training with Kelly because I want to have a healthy lifestyle. I like the program because it's all body weight, and it's really hard, but in a good way. I like my trainer Kelly because she is fun in a serious way, if that makes sense. But she is very knowledgeable and always has quotes to motivate me, that either make you think, or not think. Now, I have my mind set on being a trainer. I have always wanted to be one. I had wanted to be a trainer to help other people get fit... but now I am inspired to because of how I have transformed through Kelly's program. Thank you for reading"
Junior, 13, Oshweken, July 2014

"I started my workouts with Kelly by chance. She was originally working with our two sons. The night they were to start my older son decided he wanted to go to the movies instead, so I took his spot during her consultation. Ever since then I have worked out more consistently than I ever have in over 30 years. Kelly has taught our family about proper eating and snacking which is a huge learning curve. She is available to answer any questions we may have, whenever we may have them! Kelly has also changed my ability to stick with a program as I have exercised off and on since I was a teenager. I also workout with my son occasionally and he is always quoting Kelly, telling me "slow down! or "that's not proper form!" etc. Having Kelly as my personal trainer is one of the best things I could have ever done for myself and I truly thank her for all she has done for myself and for my family."

Sharon M, Burlington, June 2014
Sharon, age 60, has been a client of Kelly's for a little over two years. She has had both of her knees replaced, multiple surgeries on her feet and ankles, and courageously battles severe osteoarthritis throughout her body. She has a long history of working with health practitioners from many different facets of the wellness industry and was recently interviewed on the challenges she has faced over the last 5 years with finding a fitness program that would work for her, and why she recommends True Measures Personal Training.
What has been your biggest challenge in the past with trainers?
"Being able to do the exercises that were assigned to me properly. I felt as though I was being given exercises by the textbook and I was being given routines that were good for other people, but were above my actual physical ability and comfort range. Because the programs had no individualization, I wasn't able to benefit from them. They would give me a certain exercise and if it hurt my body they would just skip that body part without replacing it with something I COULD do."
What are some of the most frustrating elements to living with osteoarthritis?
"The limited mobility, replaced limbs... my balance is uneven.... I can't walk or ride bikes or swim the way I would like. It's difficult to dance... I love dancing... it prevents me from doing that. I'm in pain whether I move or not, but I've been told by many different professionals if I don't keep moving and using my body despite the pain, I will lose mobility and quality of life even more rapidly."
You've been working out with an in-home functional body weight focused training program for 2 years now. What are the greatest benefits you have found?
"I have way more strength, there are so many exercises I can do now I was never able to do before. My balance has improved, which gives me more confidence in the activities I enjoy doing. I went on a slide with my granddaughter recently and was able to actually climb up and down twice... which was something I had lost the ability to do before. The other day I could actually run for the phone and get it in time! Even something as simple as getting down to the floor and back up again is so much easier than before. It may not be perfect, but it's still do-able. If I hadn't started training with Kelly when I did, I probably wouldn't still be able to do those things today."
What were some of the biggest indicators other than the daily abilities you have gained that showed what significant changes the program brought about in your body as time went on?
"Being on a wavelength of looking after my body in any way I can inspired me to change my nutrition. Since I started, I have lost 30lbs. Also, every year I undergo an executive physical... my most recent visit revealed radical increased mobility, strength, balance... they asked what I was doing and recommended I keep it up because they didn't believe I'd be able to improve the way I have, they couldn't believe how noticeable the changes in my physical abilities were. Just before I had started my training, I went on a trip to Sicily, and befriended someone there. It was a very physical trip and at the time this friend was concerned with my health. I saw her again this year for the first time since that trip over two years ago, and she was just amazed at how much better I could move, and the ease with which I could participate in the activities I struggled with before.
What do you like the most about the functional body weight approach to training?
"The exercises that are given are customized for my abilities. My trainer takes into consideration my level of exhaustion and fatigue from session to session. There is so much variety that I never get bored, and the routine always changes. I always had a concern that I was using machines improperly and was never sure if I was causing damage to myself or not. I couldn't trust that I was getting the proper isolation, but with the body weight exercises I feel more in-tune with my body and I can feel how I consciously engage the groups I'm targeting, and I could never feel and trust that before. I have learned what pain levels are safe to work through so I don't injure myself. When I do have flare-ups, there is always an adjustment to the routine so I can still train without making it worse. Before, I would just skip working out altogether.
I still live with a lot of pain. but people have seen such differences over time in me that I have to believe the program gives benefit for people with my condition. I'm not where I would like to be and I don't know that I ever will get there. But I know I have progressed and I'm better off than if I were not doing anything at all. I will definitely keep training with True Measures. My advice is to listen to professionals when they say that staying in motion allows you to maintain what you have and stay off the path of regression. It's hard to say just how much worse off I'd be if I hadn't started working out... but I know for a fact that I am better off for having chosen to train with True Measures."

"YOU WILL BE TRANSFORMED!!! I was feeling determined to get my body back into shape and I was fortunate enough to find Kelly. She gave me routines that target every part o fyour body and each time the routine is different with varying exercises. Kelly works with your body's strengths and improves your body's weaknesses. Being a server, I started to have pain in my right shoulder because of the repetitive work I was doing. She adapted the routines to fit my shoulder and its ability from when we started, and we gradually progressed. I have been training with Kelly for over a year and my shoulder no longer hurts, it's as if there was never an injury there at all! I can do full pushups and side planks... when we started, my shoulder wasn't able to handle that. Kelly has taught me so much not only about how to properly exercise your body and how to eat properly, but she also tells me tidbits of the latest products she has tested. This could be anything from new organic face washes to ionized toothbrushes to cumin spice having fluoride-fighting properties. With True Measures, I feel healthier and more energized all day long. I am happier, and more patient and excited to get going every morning. I have come such a long way with my shoulder, my figure is more toned and I think it's just crazy how rock-solid muscles can be! This is all due to Kelly and her personal training methods. I could not have been luckier to have found her. She has transformed my body, and my lifestyle. She inspires me to continue working out, and to live a healthier lifestyle... I know she will encourage you as well! Thank you Kelly for being my personal trainer, and for changing my life for the better."

"I found Kelly by serendipity (a lucky accident) and she has changed my life. I am 62 years and could never describe myself as athletic, sure I did sport in school, I never really enjoyed it, back in those days I don’t think you were supposed to! However I played tennis until recent times, ride a bicycle and  I am an avid skier. Over the last 20 years I have had gym memberships and trainers at the gym. I never really enjoyed it and I am not sure I ever achieved  that much. Quite often I would drive to the gym sit in the car park think about going in and then drive home. It was not a labour of love. Last February I had a road to Damascus moment. I felt I needed to get back to eating sensibly shed some weight and get an exercise routine, perhaps my maxim up until then cling to the wreckage was a bit rash!
Whilst trolling Google whom should I find but Kelly Evoy  and True  Measures !
Kelly is the best trainer I have ever met; she is professional, has a fund of knowledge, and has the right personality to motivate and gradually push me to  achieve strength and endurance. She has a good sense of humour and is a very  strong driven person mentally and physically, but is able to use psychology and an individualised plan to attain a goal. Her skills include nutrition, psychology, physiology, anatomy and fitness and is always cognisant of hurt and harm. I recommend her if you wish to make a change and gain some physical fitness.
It is hard work but if you are motivated she will help you achieve your goal. I see her twice a week, ideally I should see her  three times but life is busy!"

"I have always been active, playing sports (hockey mostly) while growing up through post secondary. After an injury that sidelined me from most sports, I moved into working out in a gym with a personal trainer. I loved it. After my marriage ended I ended up in Hamilton and could not find a gym I liked and somehow with life this part went on the back shelf and I put on weight.
In October of 2012, I started an intense journey that got me ready to want to make real change in my life, especially when it came to my health. I called Kelly and met with her and found that her philosophy to personal training fit perfectly into my belief about working with the whole person, not just the physical.
I started with Kelly back in Jan 2013 after not having done any formal workout for about 8 years. I have not felt this good in a very long time.
I live with arthritis (whole body), I have no cartilage in my knees, having a hypo-thyroid (just diagnosed and now treating), and I have back issues as a result of my work with low-functioning autistic individuals, as well as some previous sport injuries. I have received various treatments for my arthritis to control the symptoms, about 10 years ago I received gold injections as part a study group on arthritis, they worked for me.
Being a former athlete, my body has responded better then I expect from my work outs with Kelly, It is true what they say about the body not forgetting. It’s like my body was saying I remember this and I like it.
Kelly has been retraining me in my approach to training, I came from an era where my coaches and trainers would say - “No pain no gain” I am learning from Kelly to listen to my body and what it is telling me. As I listen to my body it will let me know how far I can push it and that is where I need to stop. That is not to say she does not push me further then where I think I can go, she does. Kelly is also great at adapting my workouts so when I am having a hard day due to weather/arthritis.
I love her approachable style, and how she gives you the information you need to know, the push and encouragement to go further then you think you can. My whole body is changing, Psychically, mentally, and emotionally. I look forward to continuing this relationship for many more years, and to see where I end up.
If you are looking for a trainer who will train the whole person then Kelly is your trainer."

"I hired Kelly last year when I wanted to get back into shape after giving birth to my daughter. After
interviewing a number of different trainers I hired Kelly because she seemed very knowledgeable
and friendly. I also liked Kelly's approach of customizing a workout routine just for me. My
husband also trained with Kelly and it was interesting to see how our exercises differed based on
the routines Kelly created to customize our workouts specifically to each of us. It was very convenient for her to come right to our house and schedule workouts to fit in our busy work schedules. We also appreciated her knowledge of nutrition; her dietary advice coupled with the tailored workouts resulted in very positive results for us! We give Kelly our highest endorsement as a personal trainer and would recommend her to anyone looking for a positive lifestyle change."

"Fitness and healthy living is a passion for Kelly and she makes it infectious! She is highly knowledgeable and enjoys sharing her expertise about body mechanics and nutritional research.  Kelly is creative in coming up with different types of exercises to keep the workouts interesting and moving quickly and she pushes you at just the right pace. I appreciate Kelly’s ability to assess my weaknesses and her drive to improve them. Kelly is a true gem of a person; her warm spirit and compassion makes her a fantastic personal trainer. She is very dedicated to helping her clients reach their goals."

"I suffered a serious injury to my shoulder (frozen rotator) over 8 months I tried physiotherapy, chiropractic care, etc., everything seemed to irritate it and limit my mobility.   Even quit the gym believing that I would never recover the full use of my arm to enjoy the full benefit of a workout :o(
Then I heard about Kelly through a good friend...she and her daughter were achieving great results...so I thought why not ..what could I lose.  Kelly came to my home and impressed me with her knowledge of the physiology of the body and that included mind and soul. Kelly also impressed me with her holistic views on nutrition and its importance to the body.  Rare to find a trainer that encompasses all of these attributes.  Oh yeah....and she LOVES her job!!
As soft spoken and kind as Kelly is...make no mistake she'll put you through your paces and push you well beyond what you could every possibly achieve alone.....or at the gym using complicated / unsupervised equipment.  Just when you think you don't have another one in you....she gets you to give her one more "something" from your uniquely crafted workout...never the same thing twice....you will feel energized....powerful....confident and ready to take on the world.  No she did not pay me to say this....I mean it!
Oh yes by the way, only after a few weeks working with Kelly,  low and behold my shoulder was back to 98% .....no longer was there pain lifting my arm to do simple tasks such as putting on my coat, washing and brushing my hair, etc.....YEE HA ....I was working out again better than I was at the gym (supervised) you work harder ....and achieve your goals faster!!  Go for it ...."

"I told my chiro that my daughter found a personal trainer she liked, who comes to your home. He said I could benefit from strengthening my core. The next time my daughter had Kelly visit, I asked her if I could sign up. That was a year ago! At the time, I didn't know what to expect... but after a while, I was surprised to see that I couldn't wait to see what new challenges Kelly planned for me. Any time I was dealing with a flare up of the injury the chiro was treating me for, she changed the routine so as not to compromise it, and yet she has always managed to take me to the next level!"

"I have been training with Kelly Evoy for one year now and I can honestly say that she is the best trainer that I have ever had. I am 53 years old and I am significantly overweight and I cannot believe how strong I have become since training with Kelly. I am also more flexible and definitely more active and the quality of my life has improved tremendously since I started my workouts. This summer, thanks to Kelly’s training, I achieved a personal goal when I completed a four day portaging canoe trip in Algonquin Park! Kelly is extremely knowledgeable and professional. She is tough yet encouraging. What I really like about Kelly is that she uses a diverse range of exercises to meet your personal needs, and she is considerate of your limitations so that injuries are prevented and you do not get discouraged and quit as I have done in the past. Kelly works with the whole person mentally, emotionally and physically and I would definitely recommend her as a personal trainer."
Debbie B, Ancaster, September 2012

"It was not until I met Kelly that I realized that for the past 35 years I had been working out the wrong way. Kelly taught me the three pillars of strength and how nutrition plays an integral part of getting fit. I no longer fear injury the way I did before and more importantly I can work towards my fitness goals without setbacks from injury. Thank you Kelly"
Adam C, Ancaster, August 2012

"Kelly is an outstanding personal trainer. She is always thinking about the needs of her client and keeping their changing needs in perspective when designing workouts. Kelly's knowledge of the human body and it's physical boundaries is helpful in the performance of her clientele. She is always a pleasure to work with. She has a positive, encouraging personality mixed with a tough love that pushes clients to their full potential. I have been a client of Kelly's for the past 4 months and have been very pleased with my physical performance improvement and credit this ongoing achievement to her consistent support and guidance. She has taken into consideration my other extra-curricular activities, work demands and physical limitations. I really enjoy having her as my personal trainer and look forward to many more workouts with her direction. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to make a positive change to their lifestyle."

"I've been working out with Kelly for a year now and I still look forward to seeing her every single session. I am just amazed at the transformation I've made from where I was when I started and where I am today. I've never been so strong in my life. I'm 56 and before I started with Kelly I suffered from a weak back and plantar fasciitis... now I am pain free and living life to the fullest. The benefits to participating in her workouts are just endless... I can keep up with my two year old granddaughter with energy to spare and feel great throughout my day. Kelly as a person and trainer is just awesome... she pushes me through the hurdles and I come out stronger and stronger every time. To her I owe so much, for the new found mental and physical strength I have gained. Thanks Kelly"

"I knew I needed someone to help. I had set forth on a journey to get into better shape. I knew fully well that I could not do this on my own. So began the search for a personal trainer. I felt most comfortable with a woman, as did my husband I’m sure. The first woman I spoke to was a body builder, her voice was so deep that when she answered the phone I thought it was a man. She was very pricey and wanted to meet at a gym. I wasn’t very comfortable with that so on to the next. A young man seemed nice enough but again was way out of my price range. I looked online and found Kelly Evoy. I sent a quick message and told her what I was looking for. Kelly very promptly contacted me and we set up a time for her to come to my home for a consultation. She showed up on time with a big smile, I immediately felt at ease and we worked out a price I could afford. I felt much closer to my goal and we hadn’t even started yet. My first work out was awesome; Kelly encouraged me and taught me every step of the way. I learned something new every time we had a session, diet, breathing, control. I learned how my muscles work when I eat properly and what happens when I don’t fuel myself right. I found I was more determined than ever. With Kelly’s help I knew I could meet my personal goals. She was a constant inspiration to me, always on time and always with a new challenging routine. To sum up my experiences with Kelly, I would have to say I couldn’t have done it without her. Kelly’s constant motivating attitude and her incredible amount of knowledge, from nutrition to the emotional aspects of changing your life and body is just another brilliant part of having her as my personal trainer. I met my goal, and now I am eager to continue to live a healthy more balanced lifestyle. This experience turned out to be more than just getting back into shape at 39 years old. It has made me feel 39 years young with more zest for life!!!!! Thank-you Kelly my personal Guru for the new lease on health, strength, endurance, nutrition, exercise and staying sane while reaching for the sky!!!"

“Keeping this brief will be the biggest challenge as Kelly's attributes and strengths are vast. Simply stated, Kelly is bar none the best personal training specialist I have had the pleasure of working with. My participation in high level sports as well as involvement with health care professionals for treatment of injury, has exposed me to an extensive array of professionals in Kellys' and other related fields. I was experiencing a complicated situation when I hired Kelly and thanks to her knowledge, awesome personality, adaptability, and passion to keep expanding and learning new ways to work with her clients, the results I was looking for were not just met, they were surpassed. In my opinion, when you hire Kelly you are getting way more then you pay for. I can't thank her enough and wish her all the best.”
